I attribute Brian Skerry and National Geographic's "Secrets of the Whales" (both the book and the movie on Disney+) to be a big contributor of my love of belugas. I've had an obsession with whales (particularly orcas) ever since I was a kid. Knowing that we have belugas in northern Manitoba - so close, but so far - I hope to one day make a trip up to Churchill during their migration period to see them in real life, in their natural habitat.

Belugas value social connections. "Secrets of the Whales" follows a family of migrating belugas who adopt a narwhal who had been separated from it's blessing (pod).  It reminded me of how much we can impact others when we share our abundance with others - love, compassion, empathy and resources. We may often feel as though our contributions to society won't change the world, but when our contributions help even just one person, one life, THEIR world changes, and they go on to share their newfound abundance with others, causing a ripple effect of change and empathy and love shared over time.
